Cheap Hotels Near Lake Underhill Park, Orlando: Where to Stay 2026-27

Cheap hotels near Lake Underhill Park, Orlando compared by area: exact distances, drive times, bus and train fares, and first-timer logistics for 2026-27.

East Orlando has a reputation as the part of town you land in when the good hotels are full: too far out, nothing nearby, a slog to every park. After years of planning trips with my wife around the off-peak weeks, I think the numbers say otherwise. From Orlando International Airport, where most of the cheap rooms in this guide sit, downtown is about 28 minutes by road without heavy traffic, Universal is 23 km, SeaWorld 20 km and Magic Kingdom 36 km (about 48 minutes, and I-4 can double that). A LYNX bus ride costs $2.00. Lake Underhill sits on the east side between downtown and the airport, so it works as a hinge. Below I cover each base, what it costs you in time, and the one cheap hotel I would pick for it.

Lake Underhill and the Semoran corridor

Lake Underhill is a neighborhood in east Orlando's Semoran corridor, alongside Conway, Azalea Park, Dover Shores and Wedgewood Groves. It is residential, runs along Semoran Boulevard toward the airport and is known more for Latin American restaurants than for sights, which is exactly why rooms here run cheaper than beside the parks. In Conway, Pizza Bruno (3990 Curry Ford Rd., wood-fired pies, MICHELIN-selected, +1 689-339-4729) is the local dinner I would book.

Orange County hotel stays carry 12.5% tax (6% tourist tax plus 6.5% sales tax), and many hotels add daily resort fees that are not in the headline rate, so check before booking. You can compare every accommodation listed for Orlando in one place. Visit Orlando, the official tourism body, is where I would ask which LYNX Link passes your hotel's door.

UCF game days and a kitchen: the east-side pick

Four UCF fixtures land inside two weeks: men's basketball at Addition Financial Arena on 1 November (7:00 p.m.), volleyball and women's soccer against Iowa State on 5 November (6:00 and 7:00 p.m.), and football against Arizona State on 14 November. Volleyball parking at The Venue at UCF is $10; football parking in the Blue Zone lots is free. When game days stack up across a week, a kitchen starts to matter.

  • Extended Stay America Select Suites - Orlando - East

Stay here for the east side and UCF; you trade downtown walkability for a full kitchen. Extended Stay America Select Suites - Orlando - East on Goldenrod Road (suite-style studios ->) is 12 km from the University of Central Florida, 15 km from Orlando International Airport and 31 km from SeaWorld.

    • Studios with a stovetop, microwave, refrigerator, cable TV and coffee facilities
    • Free parking, family rooms, laundry, elevator, air conditioning, tea/coffee maker in all rooms
    • Vending machines on site; non-smoking rooms and facilities for disabled guests

Mills 50 and the Milk District after dark

The best cheap dinners within reach of the east side sit in two strips. In Mills 50, Bánh Mì Boy (1110 E. Colonial Dr., +1 407-422-0067), Zaru udon (+1 407-271-8512) and UniGirl onigiri (rice triangles that sell out) are all MICHELIN Bib Gourmand. In the Milk District, Otto's High Dive (2304 E. Robinson St.) opens Mon-Thu from 4 p.m., and Swine & Sons (201 N. Bumby Ave.) sits in the budget price tier. Street parking in Mills 50 is scarce at weekends.

For music, Plaza Live (425 N Bumby Ave) hosts Greensky Bluegrass on 7 November and Jim Henson's Labyrinth: In Concert on 10 November, both at 8:00 p.m. Will's Pub has First To Eleven on 11 November (show 8:00 p.m., $20 advance, $23 on the day, 18+).

Lake Eola at 6 a.m.

Lake Eola fountain, amphitheater and the downtown Orlando skyline

Lake Eola Park is free, open 6:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. daily, with a sidewalk loop of 1.4 km. The detail most people walk past is the shoreline marker for Orlando Reeves, the soldier the city is said to be named after (placed 1939, updated 1990; the name's origin is disputed). The quiet hour is the 6 a.m. opening, before the lit Linton E. Allen Centennial Fountain becomes everyone's backdrop.

How it holds up for real use: parking is on-street only, and Sundays bring the farmers market. The free LYMMO Grapefruit line links the lake with City Hall, the Dr. Phillips Center and the Kia Center, running Mon-Fri 6:00 a.m. to 8:25 p.m. and from 8:00 a.m. at weekends.

Kia Center and Dr. Phillips Center nights

Orlando Magic vs. Boston Celtics at the Kia Center

Downtown's venues decide how busy your hotel's street gets. Orlando Magic vs. Boston Celtics is at the Kia Center on 1 November at 3:30 p.m. (mobile tickets only); Doja Cat follows on 14 November (7:30 p.m.) and Olivia Rodrigo on 15 November (7:00 p.m.). At the Dr. Phillips Center, Air Supply plays 19 November (8:00 p.m.), Death Becomes Her opens 1 December (7:30 p.m.) and Orlando Ballet's The Nutcracker is on 4 December (7:00 p.m.). LYNX Links 20, 36 and 40 and LYMMO Grapefruit serve the arena.

Downtown with a pool: the city-centre pick

If your plans are arena nights, Lake Eola and the Dr. Phillips Center, one budget hotel in this set is within a six-minute drive of the Kia Center.

  • Days Inn By Wyndham Orlando Downtown

Stay here for downtown and a pool; you trade the airport shuttle for a short drive to the city centre. Days Inn By Wyndham Orlando Downtown is 4 minutes' drive from Orlando city centre (see more hotels in downtown Orlando).

    • Kia Center 6 minutes' drive; 10 km to Universal Studios Orlando and SeaWorld Orlando; Mall at Millenia 7 minutes
    • The listing quotes 15 minutes' drive to Walt Disney World; I would budget more at rush hour
    • Outdoor pool, free parking, free WiFi, cable TV, a fridge in every room (microwave on request)
    • 24-hour reception, launderette, lobby coffee, breakfast, family rooms, pet-friendly

Arriving at MCO with or without a car

Orlando International Airport (MCO) is 18 km from the city centre. Terminals A and B share one building; Terminal C, with the Brightline station, is separate, linked by the 24-hour Terminal Link people mover. LYNX Links 11, 42, 51, 311, 407 and 436S serve the airport at $2.00 a ride with a free 90-minute transfer; a day pass is $4.50, a 7-day pass $16.00 (+1 407-841-5969). Brightline to Miami starts at $39 (SMART Saver).

Renting a car? Collect the free Visitor Toll Pass at Terminal A or B Level 1 or Terminal C Level 4, and decline the rental company's toll program. On-site rental desks are at Terminals A and B Level R1/R2 and Terminal C Parking C1/C2.

Early flights: the airport-shuttle picks

Two hotels here run free airport shuttles, so a 5 a.m. flight needs no car: Avid at 1 km and Holiday Inn Express within 3.2 km. Both sit in the airport belt, 27 to 31 minutes by road from Universal and SeaWorld without heavy traffic.

  • Avid Hotels - Orlando International Airport By Ihg

Stay here if a dawn flight rules your trip; you trade scenery and a kitchen for a 1 km shuttle hop. Avid Hotels - Orlando International Airport By Ihg (Google Travel listing) is 1 km from MCO.

    • Free airport shuttle; Florida Mall 8 km, Church Street Station 14 km
    • Free WiFi, air conditioning, shower and TV; fitness centre; 24-hour front desk

    • The listing highlights room cleanliness and location
  • Holiday Inn Express & Suites Orlando International Airport By Ihg

Stay here for breakfast included and a pool; you trade the closest door (3.2 km, not 1 km) for suites with extra space. Holiday Inn Express & Suites Orlando International Airport By Ihg (Booking.com page) offers a free airport transfer from less than 3.2 km away.

    • Continental breakfast included, free WiFi, microwave and refrigerator in every room
    • Some suites have a separate living area; family rooms; outdoor pool, fitness centre, gift shop
    • Under 30 minutes' drive to Walt Disney World; Universal Studios Orlando 22.4 km

Park tickets and parking, autumn 2026

Adult one-day prices on 4 November 2026: Animal Kingdom $164, EPCOT $174, Hollywood Studios $184 and Magic Kingdom $189; Thanksgiving (26 November) lifts Magic Kingdom to $209. Child tickets (ages 3 to 9) are $5 less. Universal Studios Florida is $139 and Epic Universe $164 that day. SeaWorld's online one-day sale starts at $59.99, the cheapest big-park day among these.

Disney parking is $35 per car for all four parks that day; Universal self-parking is about $35 (about $32 prepaid). All prices exclude 6.5% sales tax. Disney no longer requires a park reservation for date-based tickets.

What is on and what is shut at the parks

On: Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party runs 25 nights from 8 November to 22 December, from $189, and Magic Kingdom closes early to day guests on those nights. EPCOT's Food & Wine Festival ends 21 November; its Festival of the Holidays runs 27 November to 30 December. Universal's Holiday Parade featuring Macy's starts 14 November. SeaWorld's Christmas Celebration covers select dates from 6 November to 4 January and is included with admission.

Shut: Typhoon Lagoon until 2027; Tiana's Bayou Adventure from 2 November until about 18 December; Jurassic Park River Adventure until about 16 December. Volcano Bay is reported closed from 26 October, so skip water-park add-ons before April 2027.

Mall-side and airport-area options

Two more airport-area hotels round out the set: one with a restaurant and bar on site, and one where I would simply ask the property for details.

  • Quality Inn & Suites Orlando Airport

Stay here for a sit-down dinner and a pool without leaving the property; you trade a 1 km airport hop for 3.2 km. Quality Inn & Suites Orlando Airport (Tripadvisor reviews) is 3.2 km from Orlando International Airport.

    • Florida Mall dining 4.8 km; Universal Orlando Resort 14.4 km; Walt Disney World 20.8 km
    • Microwave, small refrigerator, flat-screen cable TV, desk and sofa seating area in every room
    • Q's Cafe and Bar serves breakfast and dinner with a full bar; hot breakfast; outdoor pool
    • Free WiFi, fitness centre, room service, laundry, 24-hour front desk
  • Sleep Inn & Suites Orlando International Airport

Another airport-area choice is Sleep Inn & Suites Orlando International Airport (official site). Confirm room details and rates directly with the property.

Verdict and budget pointers

My verdict, after years of building trips around the quiet weeks: the east side is more accessible than its reputation, and the catch is time, not standards. It answers what shoppers always asked me at the window, is the cheaper one the same thing?, with: roughly the same job, plus a time bill. My picks: Days Inn for a first visit with a pool and arena nights, Extended Stay for a week with a kitchen and UCF, Avid for a dawn flight.

  • Free days: Lake Eola, the Mennello Museum on 8 November, the Orlando Museum of Art on 19 November, Morse Museum Fridays 4-8 p.m.
  • Hurricane season ends 30 November.
  • Compare more on Orlando hotels and apartments; prices and availability can change, so confirm when booking.
